Who am I?

My name is Connie Windecker. I know that name means nothing to you right now but in the future, my goal is to change your perception of nothing to images that make you smile and make you think. I blog about the beauty in the world around me, as well as, beauty in the difficult things, I am an artist, an appreciator of art and a musician. I started playing jazz piano at the age of 50 and I am currently studying under a master. This musical journey has taken many turn and twists and is often the subject of my blog. I am also the mother of three grown up children who continue to frustrate and delight me beyond words, so they sneak into my posts on a regular basis.

I own three horses and I am working on forming relationships with each, right now, they all know me as, “Cookie Girl”. I am a city girl who moved to the country one year ago and it has been an adventure. My horses have taught me much and some of their exploits could eventually breach the cracks of my blogs. I also live with four ridiculous dogs. One greyhound named Jazz, one border collie mix named Chevy, one blue healer mix named Turbo and a rat terrier mix named Stitch. Their exploits keep me laughing even on my worst days.

I lost my younger brother five years ago to cancer. I can hardly believe it has been that long. My writing often reflects the grief, anger, frustration and all the other emotions that come with losing a precious relationship to a bastard like cancer. But I do try to focus on positive outcomes. I am a more empathetic, loving person since I lost my brother. I am sure that the reevaluation process that comes along side grief is to blame not only for this blog but also my increased ability to empathize.

My goal in this coming year for this blog is to bring you on a joint journey with me, where we discover the beauty around us, where we celebrate our humanness, and we laugh, love and cry together. I also hope to get more interaction through comments so I can get to know who you are as my reader.
